How far in advance should you book a wedding photographer?

Saturday in peak season from May to September: 12 to 18 months. Friday or Sunday in the same period: 8 to 12 months. Saturday in the off season from October to April: 4 to 6 months. Weekdays year-round: a few weeks are often possible. The reason for the range is simple — I cover only one wedding per weekend.

Saturdays in May, June and September are in highest demand. Anyone marrying in that window who wants a particular provider should not delay the enquiry. Conversely, short-notice enquiries are always worth a try — cancellations and postponements happen more often than you would think.

In practice couples book the venue first, then the registry office or church date, and only then the service providers. That is sensible — but half a year should not pass between the venue confirmation and the photographer enquiry. As soon as date and place are fixed, that is the right moment.

An initial conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It is about finding out whether the chemistry works and whether my documentary approach matches what you have in mind. That question is settled in twenty minutes and saves both sides a lot.

After the initial conversation I hold your date for 14 days with nothing due. In that time you receive a written quote with every line item. The date becomes binding with a signed contract and a 25 % deposit; the balance is due only within 14 days after delivery.

Postponing is free up to four weeks before the date, provided the new date is available. For a cancellation up to three months beforehand, only the deposit is retained. The exact terms are in the general terms — not buried in fine print, but as their own section.
